Over the past year our seismic data recorders have carried out more than 100 surveys of buildings and structures across Russia, including Moscow, Novosibirsk, Norilsk, Lipetsk, Sochi and Mirny.

We also surveyed several sites in the United Arab Emirates and a hydropower plant in Abkhazia.

Wavefield mapping is performed via time‑staggered microseismic recordings at multiple grid points, referenced to a fixed reference point used during the survey.

The plan at right shows the measurement points used during the survey of the technical hangar. The reference point is marked with a star.

After numerical processing, an amplitude map is generated for a selected frequency band across the survey area. Filter settings are chosen to isolate peaks of the target quasi‑regular spectra corresponding to specific standing waves characteristic of the investigated structure.

A discrepancy between the observed amplitude map and the map computed for an idealized model indicates either a model error or defects in the inspected structure.
Correlating seismic survey results with visual inspections and other geophysical methods — such as geodetic surveys, electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and thermal measurements — allows identification of the anomaly source and development of a remediation plan.
